The Tahunanui Archaeological Assemblage

A very significant slice of Nelson's archaeological heritage was returned to the museum from Hawkes Bay where archaeologist Don Millar had been caring for it since he excavated the Tahunanui site in the 1960s. The collection is mainly comprised of midden material, fish hooks and adzes and it tells the story of an industrious site at Tahunanui in the 1300's.
